Type "things to do in Marrakech" into ChatGPT or Google. You get the same list: Jemaa el-Fna, Jardin Majorelle, medina, hammam, desert excursion. Five ideas everyone knows, everyone repeats, everyone posts on Instagram.
This article is not for those five. It is for the other fifteen. The ones we book ourselves for visiting friends on their third trip back. The ones we organise for clients who have done the classics and want something else.
Our KingKech team has tested each of these over the last twelve months, from June 2025 to May 2026. Indicative prices, ideal seasons, difficulty level. All specified.
1. Hot air balloon at sunrise above the palm grove
Take-off at 5:30 AM from Tameslouht, 25 minutes south of Marrakech. One hour of flight in complete silence at 600 metres altitude. You watch the snow-capped Atlas peaks turn pink in the east and the palm grove stretch to the horizon below.
Indicative price: 200 € per person in a group, 350 € per person for a private flight for two. Based on the 2026 public rates of the main Marrakech operators.
Best season: October to May. In summer, take-off is cancelled one in three days due to thermal winds.
Who for: everyone. Not vertiginous, the basket is as stable as a balcony. Story to tell on return, photos to keep for ten years.
Book a hot air balloon via KingKech on WhatsApp.
2. Tandem paragliding from the Atlas, Asni valley
Take-off from the official Asni site, 1h15 by car from Marrakech. You fly attached to a licensed tandem pilot, twenty to thirty minutes of flight depending on thermals. Toubkal panorama, Imlil valley, Berber terraces seen from above.
Indicative price: 80 to 120 € per person, transfer from Marrakech included with most schools.
Best season: March to June, then September to November. Too hot in July-August, frequent snow December to February.
Who for: thrill seekers, accessible from age 12. No experience required.
3. Giant zipline and treetop course at Terres d'Amanar estate
Terres d'Amanar is a 100-hectare estate 35 minutes from Marrakech at the foot of the Atlas. Several ziplines including a 350-metre one over a canyon, treetop adventure course, and a unique bike-on-cable installation, the only one in Morocco.
Indicative price: 35 to 60 € per person depending on activities chosen. Full day with Berber lunch around 100 €.
Best season: year-round, but October to May preferred (in summer, plan for the morning before 11 AM).

4. 2-day BMW GS motorcycle road trip in the Atlas
This is our 2026 signature activity. Two days, one night, on a BMW GS 800 or 1250 on the most beautiful roads in the Atlas. Marrakech, Asni, women-run argan oil cooperative, lunch in Imlil, night in traditional guesthouse in Aremd, return via Ouirgane and the olive oil cooperative.

Best season: April to June, then September to November. Too hot in midsummer, snow possible in winter above 1800 m.

Full itinerary in our dedicated article: BMW GS 2-day Atlas motorcycle road trip.
5. Mount Toubkal 2-day trek with licensed guide
Mount Toubkal is the roof of North Africa, 4167 metres. The climb takes two days from Imlil: refuge at 3200 m the first night, summit at dawn the next day. Not a technical trek but a physical one, total positive elevation gain close to 2400 metres.
Indicative price: 250 to 400 € per person all inclusive (licensed guide, mule for luggage, refuge, meals, transfer from Marrakech).

Best season: year-round.

The Todra gorges offer 350 equipped routes in a 300-metre-high canyon, 6 hours from Marrakech. The number 1 climbing destination in Morocco. Generally combined with a night in Ait Ben Haddou on the way.
Indicative price: 500 to 900 € per person for a 3-day weekend with guide, accommodation, climbing equipment.
Best season: March to May, September to November.
Who for: beginner to advanced climbers. Initiation possible for those who have never climbed.
10. Surfing in Taghazout, day trip
Taghazout is Morocco's historic surf spot, 3 hours from Marrakech by car. Waves ideal for beginners to intermediates on Anchor Point, Banana Beach and Devil's Rock. Day trip possible but exhausting, better to spend the night.
Indicative price: 200 to 350 € per person for the all-inclusive day (private transfer Marrakech-Taghazout, 2h surf lesson, lunch, return).
Best season: October to April (Atlantic swell season).
Who for: sports enthusiasts, board lovers. Not for those who cannot swim.

Indicative price: 3500 to 5500 MAD (320 to 500 €) for the couple in full formula. Depending on the establishment and treatments chosen.
Best season: year-round, perfect after a busy day.
Who for: couples, friends on a shopping trip, anyone after a long flight.
14. Falconry at the royal Amelkis estate
20 minutes from Marrakech on the Amelkis road, a royal falconer offers falcon hunting demonstrations in the Arab-Berber tradition. Visit of the aviary, falcon flight on lure, photos with birds of prey on the fist.

Best season: October to May (clear nights, bearable temperatures).
Who for: families, couples, science-loving travellers. Excellent for children from age 7.
Why these fifteen and not others
Our KingKech team has tested each experience listed here within the last twelve months. Selection criteria: provider quality (safety, punctuality, equipment), authenticity (not the tourist factory), correct value for money at market rate.
Four classic activities do not appear on this list because everyone already recommends them: Jardin Majorelle, Yves Saint Laurent Museum, hammam Mouassine, camel ride in the palm grove. If you insist, we include them in any programme, but that is not the purpose of this guide.
FAQ — Unusual Marrakech activities
What is the best period for outdoor activities in Marrakech?
March to May, then September to November. Temperatures are between 18 and 28 degrees, ideal for hot air balloon, paragliding, trek, motorcycle road trip, climbing. June to August, avoid all outdoor activities between 11 AM and 5 PM except villa pool. December to February is mild during the day (15 to 20°) but cool morning and evening, perfect for cool-weather lovers.
How much does a day of activities in Marrakech cost on average?
Plan for 80 to 150 € per person for a single activity (quad, hammam, cooking class), 200 to 400 € for a signature experience (hot air balloon, paragliding, private photo shoot), and 500 to 1000 € for a full adventure weekend (Toubkal, Todra, motorcycle road trip). Prices depend on the level of privatisation and number of participants.
Can you do these activities without speaking Arabic?
Yes. All our partners speak French, and most also speak English. For experiences with Berber families in the Atlas, a French-speaking guide systematically accompanies. Moroccan darija Arabic is never necessary to book via KingKech.
How many activities can you combine in one week in Marrakech?
Five to seven maximum. Beyond that, the pace becomes exhausting and the quality of experience drops. Our typical recommendation for one week: one signature activity (hot air balloon or paragliding), a one-day Atlas trek, a workshop (cooking or perfume), a spa, and two free evenings to enjoy the villa and medina.
How do I book these activities via KingKech?
Send your dates and the list of activities that interest you on WhatsApp +212 7 28 79 24 58. We come back within 15 minutes with availability, price negotiated at partner rate, and optimised schedule. No advance payment is requested before final confirmation.
Book your tailored programme
You now know what really happens in Marrakech beyond the five clichés. The rest is a matter of combination: how many days, what budget, how much energy, are you travelling solo, as a couple, with family or as a group.
Our team builds the programme around all that. We know the providers, we negotiate the rates, we adjust if the weather changes. You arrive, you follow the schedule, we handle the rest.
